Résumé : Phosphorus containing materials are used by mankind on a very large scale for a multitude of purposes ranging from fertilizes, food additives, herbicides, complexing agents to sophisticated materials. The increasing demand for phosphorus is confronted with an increasing limitation of easy accessible phosphorus containing resources. Moreover, the synthesis of especially organophosphorus compounds is a highly energy consuming process. In this context we are searching for simple routes to activate elemental forms of phosphorus, specifically P4. This report will summarize our efforts to find high-yield syntheses for small reactive anions like [PH2]- or [OCP]- under whenever possible halogen-free conditions. Some applications of these anions in the synthesis of special functional organophosphorus compounds (phosphanes, photoinitiators, heterocycles) will be described.
