Résumé : Unsaturated 14-electron Pt(II) complexes with a T-shape structure are believed to be key intermediates in C-H bond activation reactions of hydrocarbons. It will be shown in this presentation the usefulness of five-membered bulky N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC, Arduengo’s carbenes) in the stabilization of these kinds of elusive species and how we can modulate their reactivity by tuning the agostic interactions present in these coordinatively unsaturated molecules. It will be shown as well a new approach for the synthesis of 2-pyridylidene transition metal complexes based of the decarboxylation of pyridinium carboxylates.
