Presentation of the Quantum Optoelectronics group

Our research is focussed on the optical properties and spin physics in seminconductor nano-structures.

Since the early 1990s we study the physics of electron and hole spins, nuclear spins and the spin states of quasi-particles such as excitons in bulk semiconductors and nanometer sized objects such as quantum dots and quantum wells. The insight gained in these challenging experiments at the interface between material science, quantum physics and photonics help forming the foundations for future developments in spin electronics and quantum information science. We investigate and manipulate spin properties of individual nano-objects and ensembles with ultra short laser pulses, applied electric or magnetic fields in a large variety of optical spectroscopy experiments in semiconductors with energy gaps from the infrared to the ultraviolet spectral regions.
