Résumé : Lateral quantum dots defined by gating a AlGaAs heterostructures 2DEG are interesting systems to study because of their tunability. Indeed one can trap a single electron spin in such a dot and more importantly one can vary in situ trap potentials and coupling to reservoirs or to others dots. Therefore such a system represents an engineered single magnetic impurity with coupling to the reservoir that can be tuned. In the regime of large tunnel coupling with the electron reservoir, the system represents a toy model for Kondo physics. Our group at Institut Néel has recently explored the Kondo size effect by varying the size of the reservoir coupled to the magnetic impurity. I will discuss recent experimental results on Kondo physics in a system of double dot, one small (the magnetic impurity), one big (reservoir of a finite size). In the weak tunnel coupling regime or almost closed barriers, electrons are not coupled to the reservoir and therefore can be used to store quantum information in the spin degree of freedom. We will describe how one can measure experimentally the spin of a single electron and the way we demonstrate Rabi oscillations of a single electron spin.
