Équipe 3. Optoélectronique Quantique , Prof

Xavier Marie is Professor at the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA- University of Toulouse). He has joined the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) in 2005 as a Junior member and in 2015 as a Senior member. He has been the Director of the Laboratory of Physics and Chemistry of Nano-Objects (LPCNO ; CNRS-INSA-UPS) from 2007 to 2010. He is currently in charge of the Laboratory of Excellence NEXT (Nano, EXtreme measurements and Theory) which brings together 200 permanent researchers from 6 laboratories in Toulouse.

After a Master of Science at the University of Essex (UK) and a french engineering Degree he received his PhD degree in 1991 in Toulouse working on Optical Spectroscopy of semiconductor quantum wells. He has worked for about 25 years on ultrafast optical spectroscopy of low dimensional semiconductor structures (quantum wells, quantum dots, 2D materials). His main present interest is the optical, valley and spin coherence in semiconductor nanostructures and band structure engineering of semiconductors for optical telecommunication devices and solar cells.

Xavier Marie is the author or co-author of about 270 papers and communications in refereed journals, 2 books, 12 book chapters and 5 patents. He gave 100 invited talks in International Conferences and seminars and 11 lectures in International Summer Schools. He is a regular expert and member of panels for EPSRC (United Kingdom), DFG (Germany), CAS (China), ERC (Europe), ANR (France), etc…
