Alvaro  Raya Baron

Équipe 7. Nanostructures et Chimie Organométallique , Post-doctorant

Alvaro is working as postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Bruno Chaudret since November 2019. His current research is focused on the functionalization of magnetic nanoparticles with metals active in catalysis, in order to improve catalytic processes of interest by using magnetic heating.

During his PhD, Alvaro worked in the synthesis of coordination compounds incorporating redox-active ligands and low-cost metals for their use as catalysts in reduction of carbonyl compounds. As part of this research, he realized an internship at Philipps-Universität Marburg (Germany) from February to May 2016. Parallel to his PhD project, Alvaro also had the opportinity to participate in collaborations with several research groups and companies by performing NMR analyses or studies of a variety of compounds, particularly using diffusion techniques.
