Lei Ren obtained his bachelor degree in material physics and master degree in renewable energy science and technology from Hubei University (China) and Ecole Polytechnique (University of Paris-Saclay, France), respectively. He engaged in the research about transition metal-based catalysts of water oxidation reaction at French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission in 2018. Then, he was funded by Swiss-European Mobility Program Scholarship to complete his master thesis at EPFL (Switzerland) PV-Lab where he took charge of developing a hybrid-method process to fabricate Sn-based low-bandgap perovskite materials.
Since October 2019, he has enrolled in INSA-Toulouse to pursue his PhD study at LPCNO quantum optoelectronics group. His current research interest focuses on optical, spin and valley properties of 2D material hetero-structures.
