Rare earth chemistry involving formamidinate ligands

Séminaire LPCNO / LCC

Date : 14/11/2017 à 11:00

Titre : Rare earth chemistry involving formamidinate ligands

Intervenant : Peter C. Junk

Provenance : James Cook University, Townsville, Queenland, Australia

Salle : Auditorium Fernand Gallais, LCC

Résumé: The synthesis and reactivity of rare earth complexes involving formamidinate ligands will be discussed. Unusual synthetic approaches such as redox transmetallation/protolysis towards these compounds will be detailed. The highly reactive trivalent compounds obtained undergo C-F activation reactions, while the divalent compounds react in unusual ways with ketones, nitriles and other unsaturated small molecules. Also discussed will be lanthanoid based pseudo-Grignard reagent chemistry.
